You may have noticed: Laughing Dog Kitchen has new ownership!!
My name is Jaclyn White and I could not be more pleased to have the opportunity to provide outstanding baked goods to the greater-Seattle community! Oh ... and did I mention that they're gluten-free and vegan-friendly, too! More on that in a minute. Before I go on, I would like to acknowledge that I stand on the shoulders of giants! Or, in this case, one giant: Danielle George. Danielle (with the tireless support of her husband, Eric) started Laughing Dog Kitchen in 2015, with a vision to provide the highest-quality, gluten-free, vegan baked goods in the Kitsap area. Baking items that are gluten-free is no easy task - baking items that are gluten-free AND vegan?? Items that are gluten-free, vegan AND don't taste like wet cardboard??? Well, let's just say that there were countless hours of trial-and-error and (we've heard) over 300 peanut butter cookies that did not make the grade - all to develop the delicious muffins, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies that everyone has enjoyed for the past several years. We are so pleased to let everyone know that Danielle and Eric will soon be off on their next adventure (which requires moving) and, which opened the door for me to be involved. Without Danielle, there would be no LDK and I would not have been able to step in. I cannot acknowledge her enough - I cannot thank her enough! Danielle / Eric - best of luck in your next endeavor!! My husband often says there are no new ideas in the world, only new ways to do the same things better. It is my passionate goal to continue Danielle's vision, to take her fabulous recipes and baked goods to an even larger community. I have been gluten-intolerant for over 30 years, and have cheated for most of those. Only in the past few years has the GF food that is commercially-available gotten good enough to actually eat. (All of you out there who are gluten-intolerant know what I mean!!) I bought LDK because I could not get enough of the muffins as a consumer; I could not allow those delicious muffins to disappear from the shelves. As the new owner, I plan to expand both the offerings and the locations, so that more-and-more people - some of whom have missed out for years - can enjoy all of baked goods they've previously had to avoid, so that they can (re)join their families and friends - for breakfast, treats, snacks, and dessert!! One last note for now: the "vegan" component of the mission comes from Danielle and Eric, who have been vegan for years, even before LDK came to be. I am quickly learning about the vegan lifestyle and all that means, and commit to everyone that I will continue to do everything to keep the baked goods vegan-friendly and to help advance the vegan conversation. I would love to hear all your thoughts and will enjoy continuing to learn with your help! Jaclyn White
